Getting in the Christmas spirit

Take a look at what we got up to at Holmfield’s Christmas Fete.

On Saturday 7 December Holmfield Day Centre held a Christmas Fete for residents of George Hythe House and people who use Holmfield.

From festive food to mince pies, hot chocolates and colleagues dressed as Santa’s little helpers, it was a great opportunity to spread some festive cheer in the community.

Our reminiscence village was transformed into a winter wonderland for the Christmas Fete with Betty’s Café being the place to go for a mug of hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows.

‘Everyone’s Local’ held a raffle and tombola, the sweet shop sold festive sweets, and homemade crafts made by residents were available to buy.

Santa with his sledge and Rudolph visited for the day and gave out presents. We even had a flurry of snow!

In the evening, we enjoyed music and a buffet with our residents and their families and friends.

Anne Byrne, Support Worker for Holmfield Day Centre, said: “I think it’s so nice to see the service users’ families get together and enjoy themselves. Everyone had a great time!”

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated gifts to the raffle and tombola as well as those who organised or helped out at the fete.
