A strong sense of community

At George Hythe House we also aim to create a community where everyone knows each other, where friendships can develop and where people are supported by a caring team.

Days here are filled with friendly conversation, activities and outings and families are very much a part of that. When a new resident joins our community, their loved ones do too and there’s always plenty to keep everyone busy.

We put together a weekly programme of entertainment, with activities including arts and crafts, film clubs, singalongs with entertainers and even chair-based aerobics.

Residents are also able to enjoy our lovely garden, with seating areas where people can spend time reading, chatting or simply contemplating the world.

"We would like to thank all of the staff at George Hythe House for looking after Mum. With your support, kindness and humour, you’ve become like a second family to us."

We have a communal lounge, where many of the activities take place, as well as an additional smaller lounge where people can spend time more quietly by themselves or with friends and family.

Our hairdresser visits each week, plus we have hairdressing facilities on site, for hair washing, setting and trimming in between times.

For those who like to get out and about we are able to arrange some supported trips to local parks, museums and historic buildings, as well as boat trips, meals out and other events.
