“If I can make people laugh, it really does make my day.”

I’ve always been a care worker – it’s just something I love doing. I’ve worked in lots of different places, but I’ve been here at George Hythe House for two years now and it really is special. It’s got a lovely, homely atmosphere, like being part of a big family.

“I like to take the worry out of their lives and make sure they know they’re going to be cared for.”

I love taking care of people, I always have. Our residents are proud, brilliant people who’ve worked hard and contributed to society all their lives. It feels good to be able to give something back.

Every day here is different, which I really enjoy. There’s always lots going on and I go home feeling I’ve done something good and made someone’s life easier. Some parts of our job are challenging, especially when residents are coming to the end of their lives, but we work very closely with families, making sure they feel comfortable and supported here too.
